The turbocharger uses the exhaust gas from the engine to drive the turbine, which increases the engine’s output power by nearly 40%. The working environment of the turbocharger is very harsh, and it is often in high temperature and high pressure working conditions. Therefore, its correct use and maintenance are very important.
(1) After the engine is started, do not step on the accelerator pedal suddenly. It should be idle for 3 to 5 minutes first. This is to increase the oil temperature, improve the flow performance, and fully lubricate the turbocharger. Then the engine speed can be increased and the engine can start driving.
(2) The high-speed engine cannot be turned off suddenly, otherwise the oil lubrication will be interrupted, and the heat inside the turbocharger cannot be taken away by the oil, which may easily cause the turbocharger shaft and sleeve to “seize”.
(3) The clearance between the turbocharger shaft and sleeve is very small, so the engine oil and filter must be kept clean to prevent impurities from entering, otherwise the oil lubrication ability will decrease, resulting in premature scrapping of the turbocharger.
(4) Clean the air filter on time to prevent dust and other impurities from entering the high-speed rotating compressor impeller, causing unstable speed or increased wear of the sleeve and seal.
(5) The turbine end of the turbocharger is equipped with an alloy sealing ring. If this sealing ring is damaged, when the engine is running at high speed, the exhaust gas will enter the engine lubrication system through the sealing ring, making the engine oil dirty and causing the crankcase pressure to rise rapidly.
(6) Always pay attention to whether the turbocharger has abnormal noise or increased vibration. There must be no leakage in the lubricating oil pipe and joints.
